Shell of Solace, 2024
Oil on Canvas
20 × 20 in
Shell of Solace reflects on enclosure as a condition of protection rather than limitation. The shell becomes a womb-like architecture: a curved interior where fragility is held long enough to gather strength before meeting the world. Rather than treating retreat as absence, the work frames withdrawal as preservation — a deliberate return to the sacral space, where life can unfold according to its own rhythm. What appears still or contained carries a quieter force beneath it: the persistence of becoming. The painting considers the interiors we need in order to remain intact, and the sacred delay that allows tenderness to survive exposure.
