Spiritual Hunger in An Age of Plenty, 2025

Oil on Canvas
33 × 40 in

Spiritual Hunger in an Age of Plenty holds a moment between desire and restraint, curiosity and caution. Drawing on the archetype of the forbidden fruit, the work removes the symbol from strict doctrine and repositions it as an existential question. In a world of abundance, longing does not disappear; it becomes more complex, tied less to survival than to meaning, fulfillment, and self-possession. The fruit becomes a mirror for appetite, while the veil suggests a threshold between knowing and surrendering. The work asks what we reach for when plenty no longer nourishes us, and what our choices reveal about the architecture of longing.
